About Me

Mischa Marcks

Mischa Marcks a freelancing bassist, composer, producer and teacher. He studied bass (BA - Jazz & Pop) in Arnhem (NL). He played in many different bands and styles. In the past years he performed and recorded with artists like ONYX, Marla Glen, Dean Bowman, Curse, RTL Allstars Band, Roughhouse a.k.a. Keith Powell. During his studies Mr. Marcks became interested in contemporary dance. He composed and performed music for more than eight dance productions. With his music he has been performing in Spain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and the UK. Furthermore he appeared on national television and radio in Germany and the Netherlands.

Mischa Marcks's first teacher was Lars Lehmann chief-editor of the german magazine "BassProfessor". During his studies he had lessons with Pieter Douma as well as Henk Haverouk and Charles Nagtzaam and attended different masterclasses with Victor Woten, John Patitucci, Alphonso Johnson, Marcus Miller, Gary Willis, Randy Brecker and many more.

Lately Mr. Marcks started exploring the universe of music production. In 2014 he set up Strictly Bass Studio, where he produces his own music, as well as records bands, solo musicians and storytellers.

Mischa Marcks teaches in four languages: English, German, Dutch and French (Spanish soon to come)
